Position Overview
This position prepares daily meal service, ensures quality control of food during delivery, preparation, and service, manages reservations, cleans and sanitizes the kitchen and dining area, and completes required forms and paperwork. This position reports to the Congregate Meals Program Manager.
Primary Program Duties
· Execute daily meal preparation, which includes heating food to proper temperatures, plating, and serving food to program participants.
· Complete all daily reports, as required, including daily meal service, temperature monitoring, voluntary contributions, attendance, activities, and volunteer hours.
· Register new participants in the program; assist when needed to complete the Congregate Meal Program Site Intake form; keep the completed form safe and confidential.
· Report on weekly meal orders and request future meal orders
· Communicate with onsite managers and troubleshoot concerns.
· Keep the site stocked with supplies, materials, and forms.
· Clean and sanitize the kitchen and dining area.
· Supervise all site volunteers.
· Provide direct service support on-site, as needed
· Meet and maintain an average of meals daily.
· Perform excellent customer service.
· Accept donations.
· Attend staff meetings and in-service training.
· Other duties, as required or assigned.
Experience and Education
Experience:
· Preferred at least one year of food services experience with a knowledge of food preparation, operation of food service equipment, and maintaining health and sanitation standards.
· Required valid California State Food Handler’s Card or the ability to obtain within 14 days of employment.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Other:
Required to provide proof of valid California State driver’s license and the ability to travel using an insured personal vehicle.
Skills and Abilities
· Work and communicate effectively with elderly clients and volunteers of diverse cultures.
· Read, interpret, and implement regulations, policies, and procedures.
· Read and follow food safety manual guidelines.
· Lift food trays that weigh (approximately) 10 lbs.
· Accurately perform basic mathematical functions.
· Possess a cheerful and friendly disposition.
· Must be able to maintain records and data.
· Always maintain a safe work environment and confidentiality.
· Be proactive, creative, and flexible in resolving issues.
· Maintain a professional demeanor that reflects positively on the agency.

Availability
This position requires availability Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-1pm.
Physical Requirement
· Mobility and Dexterity requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, occasional standing, occasional walking, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motion.
· Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, and Pulling requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
· Vision requires close visual acuity, with or without correction, to prepare and analyze data and figures, view a computer screen, read, etc.
· Hearing/Talking: This class requires the employee to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and to be able to receive detailed information through oral communication. This position also requires the employee to express or exchange ideas using the spoken word.
· Driving is required to operate a vehicle, and depth perception is required to operate a motor vehicle.

As Program Support, you will help with various levels of planning, teaching, data entry, and evaluation of health programs in multiple settings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist as needed to implement program activities.
- Provide education and information on various health topics to groups or individuals.
- Participate in health fairs or community events and provide education and guidance on various health topics.
- Prepare, collect, and organize supplies and materials for classes, community events, or health fairs.
- Assist with evaluating the program's effectiveness, including collecting data, administering surveys, assisting in needs assessments, and data entry.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team providing integrated services to clients and the community.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required or enrolled in high school.
- Experience: No experience is required. However, applicants must demonstrate possession of and competency in the skills necessary.
- Other: Required to provide proof of valid California State driver’s license and the ability to travel using an insured, personal vehicle.
