West Marin Urban Agriculture Research Assistant

Part-Time: 20 hours a week | Rate: $18 an hour | Term: six months assignment

Who We Are and What We Do:

Innovative Health Solutions is dedicated to playing a leadership role in connecting public and private organizations to create collective policy, systems, and environmental community changes. IHS helps to improve the health and wellness of thousands of families in underserved and vulnerable communities. We do this by providing training, technical assistance, partnership development, coalition building, fund/grant management, research, and evaluation in all communities throughout the Bay Area.

Job Description:

Innovative Health Solutions seeks a project assistant to support a variety of West Marin Urban Agricultural Initiatives. The work is part of our collective impact programming that aims to bring together and better understand existing local initiatives and support them as the region works to transition to a more local and resilient food system. We aim to identify available resources in West Marin, leverage the expertise of partnerships, showcase best practices, and address food security needs in the West Marin Community.

Tasks and Skills:

This role will include surveying the status of school and community gardens in the region, helping gather information and inputs to several upcoming grants, providing administrative support to our West Marin Food Systems regular meetings, and coordinating with several local partner organizations to coordinate and support events and volunteer activities across the gardens. The work will include about one-third to half of the time providing fieldwork in various gardens but will primarily be community connection and data capture focused. Our goal with the funds is to magnify the work we have started and link existing projects together across the region. We hope to receive additional funds for specific garden projects and would ideally like to be able to expand this role by having the person (who will be developing good relationships within the community) perform some of those garden tasks in the spring/summer. This may extend the duration of the project.
